Samantha de Leon is a master's public history student at the University of Houston and a graduate instructional assistant with the Center for Public History. With over four years of oral history experience, Samantha has given over ten oral history interviews, one with the University of Houston President Dr. Renu Khator. She has also given a workshop on oral history methods with Dr. Debbie Harwell and Dr. Todd Romero in 2022 for the Texas Oral History Association and has worked on three different projects conducting oral histories, including the 1977 Sharing Stories Project, Resilient Houston: Documenting Hurricane Harvey, and 100 Years of Stories: Documenting a Century at the University of Houston. In addition, she also completed an oral history during her internship at the National Trust for Historic Preservation in the Summer of 2022 as an 11 Most Endangered Places Intern. She is expected to graduate in Spring 2023 and is hopeful to work alongside the Texas Oral History Association.
