TOHA 2024: Prairie View A&M University
Registration Open
TOHA 2024 was held September 6-7, 2024, on the campus of Prairie View A&M University in Prairie View, TX!
Founded in 1876, Prairie View A&M University is the second-oldest public institution of higher education in Texas and one of two land-grant universities in the state. This historically black college/university (HBCU) is classified as a Carnegie R2 university with more than 70 degree programs, 30 master's programs, and 6 doctoral programs.
The 2024 conference program included a keynote panel featuring faculty from Prairie View A&M University, a number of sessions and speakers sharing their work on and within oral history, and a special evening of bowling courtesy of PV Bowling. These events created opportunities for professional exchange, community building, and celebration of oral history scholarship in Texas and beyond.
This conference was the thirteenth annual conference of the Texas Oral History Association and the first TOHA conference to take place at an HBCU. Thank you to PVAMU and the Ruth J. Simmons Center for Race and Justice for supporting our conference!
